SECTION 2.17: THE AUGUST 2026 GTA 6 LEAKS: EVERY DETAIL, LABELED

The August 2026 GTA 6 Leaks: Every Detail, Labeled

Updated 10 min read

Starting August 18, 2026 (nine days before Rockstar’s official Extended Look) a leaker operating as “Cyberleek” began releasing gameplay clips of GTA 6, along with what appears to be the full map of Leonida. As of August 22, eight clips have circulated. Rockstar has not confirmed their authenticity, but takedown activity and press verification strongly suggest at least some of the material is genuine, likely from an older development build, not the launch version.

This page lists every notable detail observed in the leaked material, with each item labeled. We do not host, embed, or link to any leaked footage or images. Text descriptions only. The two photographs below are official Rockstar press screenshots, credited as such: nothing from the leak is reproduced here in any form.

How to read this page. Five labels, the same “label it, never promote it” system as our Real or Rumor table:

CONFIRMED
Rockstar has officially shown or stated it.
REPORTED
Information from official Rockstar press previews, relayed by credible outlets, not yet stated publicly by Rockstar.
LEAKED
Observed in leaked material. Real footage doesn't guarantee the feature ships; builds change before launch.
INFERRED
The detail was observed, but what it means is a reading of it, not an observation.
UNCONFIRMED
Circulating, with nothing solid behind it either way.

Inferred is where most of this week’s headlines come from.

Everything on this page will be re-checked against the official Extended Look on August 27. Confirmed items will be relabeled the same day.

The situation in 60 seconds

  • Aug 18, evening: two gameplay clips (~1 min each) + presumed full Leonida map images released. Both clips show Jason, one of the two protagonists.
  • Aug 19-22: six more clips followed: combat, a hypercar theft, a flight over Vice City showing the radio menu, a gas station sequence, and a strip club interior. One clip ends with bullet holes spelling “LEEK” on a wall, indicating the leaker has a playable build, not just captured clips.
  • The response: Take-Two obtained subpoenas compelling Microsoft and Discord to hand over user records tied to the leaks. Xbox’s CTO publicly confirmed Microsoft is cooperating with the investigation. Take-Two’s stock dropped sharply in the two days following the first leak.
  • The Extended Look is unchanged: August 27, 3 PM ET on Netflix, free on Rockstar’s YouTube channel six hours later. Details on our Extended Look page.

Gameplay systems spotted in the clips

Detail What was observed Status
Six-star wanted level The wanted display goes up to six stars, one more than GTA 5’s five. LEAKED
Police ID system When wanted, three icons show what police can identify you by: clothing, face/appearance, and vehicle. LEAKED
Changing your look to escape That those three icons can be cleared (new clothes, a different car) to shake pursuit. The icons are plainly there; no clip shows the mechanic working. INFERRED
Stamina meter Physical actions (melee combat) deplete a visible stamina bar, and the screen vignettes at zero. LEAKED
A movement penalty at zero stamina The vignette read as slowed or restricted movement. It’s the obvious explanation; it isn’t a demonstrated one. INFERRED
Stealth indicator A blue arrow tracks how close police are to spotting the player. LEAKED
Stealth as a full approach That missions can be played through unseen. One HUD element is thin evidence for an entire play style. INFERRED
Karma / honor icon A devil icon with a minus symbol appears during violent acts against downed NPCs. LEAKED
What the devil icon tracks Read as an RDR2-style honor system tied to excess violence rather than fighting itself. One icon, one clip: no meter, screen or consequence has been seen. INFERRED
Character stat progression Sinking a basketball shot granted “+2% Focus”: trait progression similar to RDR2’s system. LEAKED
Fuel and engine condition Cars display a gas meter and an engine condition meter. Vehicles can be refueled at gas stations. LEAKED
Vehicle storage Trunk/bed menus show “loadout” and “storage 0/4” options. LEAKED
Cash + a second balance Two amounts on screen: cash on hand, plus a second figure next to a house icon. LEAKED
What the house figure is Guesses run from rent due to banked money. The icon is a house; that is the entire evidence base. UNCONFIRMED
Carjacking interaction Pulling a driver out of a locked car involves smashing the window, then a button tap to drag them out, more involved than previous games. LEAKED
Minigames Basketball uses a timing-based “overlapping rings” shot system. LEAKED

NPCs and world simulation

Street life in the Leonida Keys, from Rockstar's official screenshot set: the density the studio has actually shown, as against what the clips are being read to promise. Image credit: Rockstar Games

“The NPCs are next-gen” is the most repeated claim of this leak week and the one with the least behind it. Phone-recorded footage of a crowd is not evidence of a simulation system: you can see that sidewalks are busy and that traffic moves, and that is genuinely all you can see. UNCONFIRMED

What the clips do establish about NPCs is narrow, and it’s already in the table above: police can identify you by clothing, face and vehicle, and violence against downed NPCs triggers the devil icon. Both are HUD observations. LEAKED

Everything past that (daily schedules, NPCs remembering you, crowds reacting to your reputation, the “hundreds of unique behaviours” figure doing the rounds) has no observable basis in the material. Rockstar’s own screenshots, like the one above, stay the best-sourced look at how populated Leonida is. Density the studio has shown; systems it has not described.

The map

Detail What was observed Status
The six named regions Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park, named by Rockstar itself, long before the leak. CONFIRMED
Full Leonida layout Map images show Vice City, marshland, mountains, and a chain of islands (the Keys) to the south. LEAKED
Other protagonist visible on map While playing Lucia, Jason’s position appears on the map with a “J” icon, a change from GTA 5, where other protagonists weren’t tracked. LEAKED
Jason’s house On one of the Keys islands in southern Leonida, matching the waterfront home seen in clips. LEAKED
Racetracks Several small race tracks appear across the map. LEAKED
Racing as an activity or income source What those tracks are for. A map icon doesn’t tell you whether something is a mission, a side activity, or set dressing. INFERRED
Second airport in the Keys A smaller airfield at the end of the Keys, speculated to be a military base, unverified even within the leak. UNCONFIRMED

Full region breakdown on our map page.

Radio stations and music

The flight clip showed the radio menu. Stations visible: V-Rock, eMotion 98.3, Back Country Radio, Symphony FM, Stockyard FM, Circoloco Records Radio, Dirty South Classics. V-Rock and eMotion 98.3 are returning Vice City stations. LEAKED

An option labeled “On Demand” also appeared in the radio menu. Its function isn’t established: community speculation is that it lets players queue individual tracks outside the radio rotation. UNCONFIRMED

Songs identified across the clips (via community identification, not an official tracklist):

Song Artist Where
Impact SG Lewis, Robyn, Channel Tres Driving clip (Aug 18)
For What It’s Worth Stevie Nicks Flight clip
Rhinestone Cowboy Glen Campbell Flight clip
Overpowered Róisín Murphy Flight clip
Players Coi Leray Driving sequence
Symphony No. 5 (Sibelius) Jean Sibelius Symphony FM

A separate 25-song partial tracklist was also published by the leaker. It includes all six songs Rockstar officially confirmed through the two trailers, which lends it some credibility, but the list itself is UNCONFIRMED and we don’t reproduce it in full here.

Songs heard in Rockstar’s own footage are tracked apart from all of this on our GTA 6 music page, which keeps confirmed tracks, reported artist claims and leaked station names in separate sections.

Fictional brands spotted

Sea Shark (jet skis), Scoop (delivery), 24/7 Supermarket, Arrow (gas stations), Hamilton Private Health Clinic, Fast Pass EMS. All LEAKED.

What this doesn’t tell you

Three honest caveats before you update your expectations:

The build is probably old. Community analysis dates the footage to a 2025 development build. Features visible here can be cut, changed, or reworked before November 19.

Leaked ≠ shipping. Every “GTA 6 has a karma system” headline you’ll read this week traces back to a single icon in a single clip. It’s a reasonable read. It’s not a confirmation. That gap is exactly what the INFERRED label marks, and it covers more of this week’s coverage than most outlets will admit.

The leaker has an agenda. Cyberleek has attached cryptocurrency promotion to the clips and opened paid sponsorship slots for future leaks. That’s context worth keeping in mind when evaluating claims made around the footage, as opposed to what’s visibly in it.

Why there is no footage on this page

Deliberate, and worth stating plainly. We don’t embed the clips, link to mirrors, or host stills. Take-Two is actively issuing takedowns and has subpoenaed user records, so rehosting is a legal question as well as an editorial one, but the editorial reason would hold anyway. A written, labeled description survives the takedown, stays accurate when a clip turns out to be an AI fake, and forces us to write down what was actually observed instead of gesturing at a video. The only images here are official Rockstar press screenshots, credited under each one. Same rule as our Real or Rumor page: we describe material, we never rehost it.

What happens August 27

Rockstar’s Extended Look airs August 27 (Netflix 3 PM ET, free on YouTube six hours later). It’s the first official gameplay showing, and the first chance to check this page’s LEAKED items against confirmed material. We’ll relabel every item that moves and log it in the changelog the same day. Times and viewing options on the Extended Look page.

FAQ

Are the August 2026 GTA 6 leaks real? Rockstar hasn’t confirmed them, but press verification and Take-Two’s legal response (subpoenas, takedowns) strongly suggest at least some footage is genuine, likely from an older build.

Does GTA 6 have a karma or honor system? Unconfirmed. A devil icon with a minus symbol appeared during violence in one leaked clip, resembling RDR2’s honor system. Rockstar has confirmed nothing.

Do cars need fuel in GTA 6? Leaked footage shows gas and engine condition meters, and a refueling sequence at a gas station. Not officially confirmed.

What radio stations are in GTA 6? Leaked footage showed V-Rock, eMotion 98.3, Back Country Radio, Symphony FM, Stockyard FM, Circoloco Records Radio, and Dirty South Classics. The official station list hasn’t been announced.

Will the leaks change the release date? Nothing suggests it. GTA 6 remains set for November 19, 2026, and the Extended Look remains scheduled for August 27.

Everything Rockstar has actually confirmed lives in everything we know; the wider claim-by-claim table, leak and non-leak alike, is on Real or Rumor.
